The Hunter

During the summer this bird made an appearance every morning around 8:10 for at least a week. One day instead of just watching it I took a few quick images. I always knew when it arrived because all the small birds would start chirping like crazy and flying around in packs. This week I kind of feel like a hunter of time and images. Time always flies by when I work on a site redesign. And since I am working on a site redesign and a new blog design, well you can imagine how fast my days are going. I am also trying to update all my galleries with new images which means I have to go back through all my portrait sessions and all the games. It would be smart to grab a few images when I do the proofs instead of having to go back through everything. Maybe in the future I will do that. So to a true hunter I admire your patience and persistence.

I have the pleasure of photographing this family every year. I work with them to make their custom holiday cards which is always fun. We did manage to get the session in a little earlier than last year and the weather was perfect outside. Here are a few images from the session at VOA.

Engagement Session

So here is the engagement session I previewed earlier. As I said it was unique and I had a lot of fun with this couple. We started off the session on the ice at Nationwide Arena. My goal of not falling was met. Really didn't care if I fell as long as my equipment stayed safe. We had fun doing different things on the ice and boxes. Thanks to the Arena staff for giving us the access, setting up a net and giving us some pucks. After the ice we did go outside and do some traditional images as well. I want to wish the couple a happy life together, your wedding in Toronto sounds amazing. Enjoy every minute of it.

Sycamore At Mason Football

Another Saturday afternoon football game. Since it rained the day before it was nice the game was later in the day. Gave the field a chance to dry out. The strong wind helped with that as well. A cold wind at that. It was blowing across one end of the field but not the other which made for huge temperature changes between ends. Guess which end I preferred:) Least I managed to stay dry up until the end of the game. Since I was heading to another game straight from this one that was a good thing. I did bring a change of clothes with me when I left the house. Think that is why I was lucky. That Murphy Law thing, no extra clothes and I would have been soaked. I do not get to do a lot of engagement session unfortunately. This one was so much fun and definitely unique. The couple got permission from Nationwide Arena to use the arena for their engagement shoot. Here is a preview of their session.

Fairfield At Lakota East Football

This JV football game was the day after my vacation and let me tell you, the weather was not as nice as when I was in Hawaii. But I was glad I was able to make it back in time to handle this request. With the game being a 1:00 start instead of 10:00 helped as well. Gave me plenty of time to get moving in the morning and try to get my body back on the correct time zone. But enough about me, here are some images from the game.

GMC Cross Country Meet

I found myself out at a cross country meet on a beautiful Saturday morning. Though the temperature climbed a lot quicker and higher than I thought. When I photograph cross county meets I go early so I can walk the course and plot where I want to be during the races. Once I scout then I determine my paths and time myself to see how long it takes for me to get from place to place. With this meet I was able to get to 3 different places during a race. The last route up to the finish was the longest and I had to do it in a short amount of time. By the end of the 4 races I was definitely done and a big hot sweaty mess. But I am glad that I got to get the runners in so many different places during the race. The images below are from the JV and Varsity girls and boys races. Lots to look at since there were so many races. Enjoy.

A Collage

I have done a few coach's gifts this year for various teams which is a lot of fun. A parent for the Oak Hills boys soccer team contacted me about doing a collage for their coaches since it was the head coach's first year. It by far has been the most challenging collage I have done just because of the number of images. The collage is 16x20 and contains 27 images. Every player and coach is accounted for as well as a few group shots. Here is the collage - click on it to make it larger.

A match-up between west side teams. A good size crowd showed up for both games. Some players from the Oak Hills girls soccer team showed up to support the team since they had the night off. Here are some images from the JV and Varsity games.

Even without a visible face I still like this image.

With the setting sun there were stripes of light on the field. I love how the head is in the light part.

Normally this player is in goal but with Senior night he played the field to let the other senior keeper have the goal.

A Wedding

Back in October I had the opportunity to shoot a wedding with Neysa again. What a great day and an amazing couple. I started out with the guys as they got ready and hung out before heading to the Church. Even though I was surrounded by Ohio State fans the entire time I had fun and we got along fine:) Thanks for allowing me to part of your special day. I wish both of you a lifetime of happiness.

Indian Hill At Ursuline Academy Field Hockey

Another Senior night. A request came in and I was able to shuffle my schedule so I could make the game. I do remember getting my first bug bite of the season during the Varsity game. I put bug spray on my arms and around my ankles but did not think to get my hands. That bug was definitely on my hand for awhile but I got it during a quick stop in play. It was my shooting hand so I did not want to move it until I had a good chance of not missing anything. That bite itched for days! Just a couple images from the JV game followed by a few from the Varsity match-up.

It was getting pretty dark especially since there are no field lights. So I had to slow the shutter speed down which causes some blurring. I actually like this motion blur.

Oak Hills At Lakota West Football

Finally posting the football game I went to where I played around. I rarely get to go to games anymore and just try things out. And since this game was so close I decided to go. When I left, I told my husband that I would leave the game after halftime. Course he just looked at me like yeah right. So when I called him at the end of the 3rd quarter and said I was heading out in a minute or two, he said he was surprised that I was not staying the entire game. He really did not expect me to come home before the end of the game. But I was good and left with about 5 minutes to go:) So here are some images from me playing around at the game:

Ursuline Academy At Mt. Notre Dame Soccer

I found myself back at an Ursuline soccer game on Wednesday night. I had just covered them on a Saturday afternoon. The weather had changed a lot since then. A cold wind had moved in and there was a threat of rain. A rain shower moved through about 15 minutes before game time. The ground was wet but other than that it was not bad. The sun even peaked out a few times during the first game. Both games were intense as these teams are definitely rivals. Here are some images from the games:

Lakota West At Lakota East Volleyball

I had the pleasure of covering the West vs East girls volleyball game back in September. It was originally scheduled earlier in September but the high wind storm we had caused it to be postponed until September 30th. The games were part of the Volley for the Cure program as well. They could not have picked a better match-up for that event. The fan turn out was huge for both teams. Cheerleaders were there and the East band showed up for the Varsity match. The teams did not let down anyone in terms of their level of play. Here are a lot of images from all 3 match levels. (more images than normal)

Long Day

Today was a long day. I got up at 6am to start my day. The last of my images are uploading as I type this at 9:45pm. I enjoyed every minute of the soccer game and 2 football games I covered. Well, except for the very cold wind. Not sure I am really ready for the cooler weather.

The below image is from last Sunday. I had an engagement session and a family session. While proofing the family session this week I saw this. I tend to hit the trigger button on my camera while moving around and always come up with interesting images. This is my shoe:) Which is actually better than some of the other things that appear.

Off to rest and spend a little time with my husband. I hope everyone had a great Saturday.

I had a great family session at Ault Park at the beginning of October. The day started a bit chilly but was perfect for moving around a lot outdoors. And believe me, these boys kept me moving. If I had half their energy..... I thought I would share a few of my favorites.

Colerain at Oak Hills Volleyball

These games seem so long ago but they were played on September 25. It is always so strange going inside for games after being at so many outdoor games. But it is nice not having to worry about the elements. No extra packing or checking radar a hundred different times. I like that Oak Hills has an upper level that goes all the way around the gym. This way I can shoot from above without being in anyone's way. The freedom to move around is so great. Here are some images from the freshmen, jv and varsity matches.

As promised yesterday, today I am posting the Varsity images. I knew the stadium would be pretty dark after all the natural light was gone just by looking at the light poles. See the last image for a visual of how dark it was.

This one might be my second favorite from the games. Kind of a tie with the keeper save above.

This is an uncropped image of a throw-in from the sidelines. Nice and dark. Camera settings - ISO 4000, f2.8 with a shutter speed of 1/320th.

Every photographer is cringing right now and screaming backgrounds! I know but what can you do when a big Cat machine is parked at one end of the field for construction purposes. I really did not think they would let me hang a big curtain for the night otherwise I might have pursued that. I still like the image even with the busy background.

Back to some freshmen soccer. Both the boys and girls played on September 22nd. Another hot day and I remember walking quickly to my car afterwards to get something to drink. The concession stand is not open for freshmen games so I made sure to pack a little cooler with drinks for after the game. I really do not like anything wet around my equipment so I do not carry water with me to the field. But enough about me, the players definitely deserve the attention instead. So with no further rambling, here are some images from the games.

Lakota East Tennis

The Thursday after the high wind storms out I headed out to Lakota East for some varsity tennis. It amazed me to see some of the damage around the school. The practice football field had one pole missing on an upright, the wind barriers for the tennis courts were gone and the fence on one side had been blown out. The courts themselves were fine though. Thanks to both coaches for allowing me to be on the court during the matches. Here are a few images.

The Moon

Last night I was a football game for some very specific images. Once I had those I stuck around to play. I rarely get a chance to play around at games so it was nice to have the time do so. Gave me a chance to try new positions and some different camera settings. It was definitely a beautiful fall night. The moon was a crescent and I could not resist taking a few images. Which made my husband laugh when he saw the proofs over my shoulder while I was working on them after the game. All these game images and then a random moon picture. By no means are these amazing images but I liked them so I thought I would share.

St. Ursula At Ursuline Academy

Some boys soccer. These games were actually the night before the football game I posted the other day. I do remember a surprise rain shower that came up. Actually it was a sprinkle but any water is not a good thing for cameras. I am on the field thinking, well the rain gear is in the car. So I pulled out my emergency gear. Yeah, that's right the big black trash bag. It works in a pinch and is something I can shove in my waist bag. Not the best looking thing but I am not picky when I get unexpected rain. It did feel good though as it was another humid night. Here are some game images:

Oak Hills At Lakota East Football

I promised awhile ago that I would post some action shots from this game so I thought I better get to it. It was definitely a muggy night for football with the threat of rain. I brought my rain gear for my cameras but decided against anything for myself. Rain would have felt good and I did not want the extra weight just in case it did decide to sprinkle. Course the threat of rain meant cloud cover which was not going to be my friend in terms of lighting. East has a pretty dark football field once all natural light is gone. There are several reason I stay away from using flashes at night and they are all personal reasons. So instead I work hard and try to get great images in the dark and complain about the lack of lighting:) Here are some images from the game.

Another freshmen soccer game. I thought this one would be fitting to post today since I am headed out to cover the JV and Varsity Ursuline team this afternoon. These 2 teams battled it out throughout the game. Here are some of my favorites of the game.

Oak Hills At Lakota East Freshmen Girls

This post goes with my last one. I decided to separate out the girls and boys games. The girls played after the boys. Normally I do not have to worry about fading light with freshmen games since they start earlier and have less time between the games. Not the case this time. I was anxious for the game to get started so I could use the great natural light as much as possible. The game itself was very physical and intense. Here are a few images from the game.

Sometimes I really wish I could be on the field to get a better angle on an image and this is definitely one of those occasions. I would have loved to have a direct look into the keeper. But I obey the rules and keep my 5 yards off the field:)

Mason At Oak Hills Soccer

A switch up from football to soccer. The Mason team traveled out to Oak Hills for Saturday night soccer. I actually spent the day on the west side of town. Earlier in the day I covered a football game and then head to Panera where I ate lunch and did the football proofs. With their Wifi service I was able to get everything uploaded before heading out to the soccer games. That was a big relief for me knowing that I had that game taken care of before starting more games. The soccer games were definitely worth coming out to and I enjoyed catching up with a few people I had not seen for awhile. But enough about my day, here are some images from the JV and Varsity games.

To me she is saying - "Mine! Go away, you cannot have it." Which is definitely the mentality a keeper needs.

A Wedding

I had the honor of being a second photographer for Neysa at a wedding in August. The wedding was outdoors at Alms Park. It was a beautiful sunny day which was just perfect. I went to Alms early to get some of the setting up images. There is a ton of work that went on behind the scenes to make everything perfect for the day. Thanks to the lovely couple that welcomed me immediately. It was a truly amazing wedding with love filling the air. Here are a few images from the day.

Elder At Oak Hills JV Football

I followed a Friday night football game with a Saturday morning JV game. Bright sun greeted me in the morning. A little overcast would have been fine with me so there would not be a shadow in the face of the players from the sun. But I will take sun over a dark stadium any day. A Friday night football game from September 5th. Mason officially opened up their new field turf stadium on the 5th against Withrow. Even though the weather was threatening rain and it was very humid a great crowd turned out for the home team. Here are a few images from the game.

Just when I felt like I things under control after the power outage my main site goes down. I have contacted my provider and they are working on the issue. No time estimate yet. Sorry for the problem. The good news is the game proofs are still working. You can access games from the link on the right. As soon as I know things are working again I will update this post.

Update 3:07pm: I have no official word yet from my provider but things have been running for awhile without a problem. Hopefully they will continue on that pattern. Now if I can only get my phone to work :)

Another update at 4:54pm: So my phone works now which is a great thing. My site is running fine but I cannot ftp anything. Which means I cannot remove my phone not working message. I know things could be worse so I am staying calm and continuing to work on my list of things for the day. I hope everyone had a great weekend. Lots for some game images tomorrow on the blog.

St. Xavier At Lakota East Freshmen Football

I feel like I finally have things back under control after the power outage. Only thing left is to get my phone line fixed which will hopefully happen tomorrow.

So how about some football images to liven up my last few posts. Freshmen games are played on a Thursday evening but there was still a pretty good crowd of people. The weather was not that great with rain threatening. Even a little shower at the start of the 3rd quarter. How do I remember that? Because I was getting all ready to capture the kick-off and the shower started. Of course it could not do it at halftime when I had time to get the rain gear on the cameras, it had to happen during game action. Least it was not a downpour and more of just an annoyance. It felt pretty good though given the heat and humidity. Here are few of my favorites from the game.

Power

Got home from some field hockey games tonight and I had power! I was very excited. Thanks to my great neighbors I was able to get a little work done today before the games. They got power back on Monday evening and earlier today ran an extension cord from their house to mine. I thought that was so great of them. It definitely made my day better. So the goal tomorrow is to answer emails. Please note - the business phone is still not working for some reason. Best estimate is sometime Friday afternoon before it will be fixed. If you have my mobile number feel free to use it to get a hold of me. Email is the other alternative. Sorry for the problem but it is out of my control at this point.

I am without power as many people are because of the high winds we had on Sunday. Hopefully everyone stayed safe and did not suffer too much damage. As soon as I get constant power I will get back to any emails and phone calls. Currently I am at my parents dropping off some food and using a little of their power. Stay safe.

Friday Night Football

A freshmen soccer game on another hot day. The fans had umbrellas to keep the sun off them and some of stood in the little shade we could find before the game. I am glad they did an officials time-out midway through both halves so the players could get some hydration. It was definitely a needed break by all. Here are some images from the game.

The JV & Varsity soccer games were my 2nd and 3rd games of the day. It was definitely a hot game and I remember going to the concession stand between games and asking for anything cold and wet. That was after drinking a Gatorade on my way to the games. Also downed a little snack bar for some energy. By the end of the day I was definitely done. The players were definitely wiped too. While field turf is nice it definitely absorbs and radiates the heat. Here are some of the images from the games.

Birthday

Today is a very special day to me - it is my birthday! Though I have no special plans for the day I am still excited about the day. Even though I asked for better weather I am okay with what I got.

The tv was on for noise today and I heard this great quote that somebody said because their 40th birthday was approaching. I wish I caught who initially said it but I was only half listening.

"Aging is God's way to tell you that you have no time to waste"

I think I got that mostly right. I think that is great quote. I do believe in living your life the way you want and making sure you enjoy it.

Anderson At Mason JV Football

On a bright sunny Saturday morning I headed over to Mason High School to cover the JV football game against Anderson. The game took place on August 30th and was my first of 3 games for the day. When I left my house it did not feel too humid but by the time I got to the stadium things had definitely changed. While I may have been hot carrying my equipment, I can only imagine what the players were going through in full pads. Anderson and Mason used to be in the same conference until Mason moved to the GMC a year ago. But the rivalry definitely still exists. The fans were very vocal and the players definitely fought for every inch on the field. Here are a few images from the game:

Atrium Field

I was on hand last night for the official opening of Mason's new football field. They had field turf installed over the summer and it was the first Varsity football home game of the season. Even though the weather was not entirely favorable a large crowd showed up for the game. In fitting fashion, Mason won the game.

I will be out at games most of the day. Here is hoping for the nice weather they are predicting.

St. Ursula At Mt. Notre Dame Field Hockey

I got to the Varsity game a bit early and found shade under the lone tree at the end of the field. It became a pretty popular place before the start of the game. The sun was definitely hot and the humidity was not helping things.

The Varsity team played first as there are no lights on the field. So the JV gets stuck playing in whatever light is left. The first game was very intense and ended up going to overtime. The game officially ended in a tie after nobody scored in overtime. A big crowd stuck around to watch the JV teams compete and the level of intensity was the same. Here are some images from the games:

This athlete took a ball to the face\eye during warm-ups yet played the entire game. You could definitely see her eye was swollen but did not look too bruised at first. I am sure by the end of the day it had some nice color to it. Hopefully she suffered no serious injuries.

You can see she did not shy away from any action even after getting hit in warm-ups.

Season Premiere

I am hooked on the show Bones and the season 4 premiere was last night. Since I work a lot of nights with games I had to record the premiere to watch later. So now I sit here debating on going to watch the premiere or being good to wait for my husband. He is hooked on the show as well. Though probably not to the extent I am. We have seasons 1 &2 on DVD and I watched them while I was forced to bed when my back decided to act up a few months back. (this is after at least watching them once before on DVD and not counting watching them during the season) If I have time to watch tv and there is a re-run on I will typically at least flip to it even if I find something else to watch. I tried to watch an episode we recorded without my husband once and pretend I did not see it. That did not work so well as when we did watch it together I gave myself away. So I continue to resist the temptation to watch it without him and will wait until we both have the same free time to watch it together. Hopefully it will not be too long in the future.

McAuley At Mason Volleyball

On the one day it actually rained around here in the past few weeks I had an inside event. Sometimes I am just lucky. I covered the Freshmen, JV and Varsity match-ups between McAuley and Mason. As mentioned in a previous post, all the games in these 3 match-ups were intense. It was definitely a treat for me to see the action through the camera. I am sure the fans appreciated the determination and efforts of all the girls. And I appreciate them for allowing me to walk the last row the bleachers during the games. I like to shoot volleyball from above and the top row of the bleachers at Mason is the best place. A little more light would have been nice so I could eliminate the blurry ball. The ball gets hit pretty hard and I could not get the shutter speed I would have liked with the low lighting. Here are some images from the games.

Mt. Notre Dame At Lakota East Soccer

On Tuesday the 26th, Lakota East played host to Mt. Notre Dame. Even though these two teams are not in the same league you could feel a little bit of a rivalry in the air. There was definitely no slow start the game as both teams were full of energy. Here are some images from both the JV and Varsity games.

A Treat For Me

I definitely got treated to some really great volleyball matches last night. Talk about intense! Through my camera I saw great action so I can only imagine what it was like being in the stands cheering on the teams. McAuley took on Mason last night and from the start of the freshmen match to the end of the varsity match there were amazing plays. How do you know it was intense? Here is the scoreboard from the first varsity match. (play to 25 must win by 2)

Senior Session

Harrison At Oak Hills Football

How about a little Friday night football? On a nice steamy Friday night I was walking up and down the sidelines of the Harrison vs Oak Hills football game. As hot as I was, I can only imagine what the players were going through. Oak Hills came out strong and definitely pumped up by the home crowd. They held off an attempted comeback by Harrison at the start of the second half. As well as a goal line stand in the 4th quarter. They kept Harrison out of the end zone from the 1 yard line on 4 straight plays. Talk about feeling the tension during that series of plays. So here are a few of my faves from the game. St. Xavier At Lakota West Soccer

The St. X. freshmen team traveled up I75 to take on Lakota West. (that in itself can be a challenge at times) I was excited to have this match-up as my first game of the new sports season. Of course the weather could not continue to be nice. It was hot and humid but luckily there was a breeze coming across the field. What an intense game from the start! Both teams came in prepared and each team took turns dominating the game. Here are a few of my favorites from the games. Strange Bug

As you probably know, I like it when I see things on me various flowers. The other night my husband and I were enjoying some beverages on the patio and saw this strange thing flying in the air. We thought it might be a baby humming bird since it was so small and quick. It never stayed around long enough for us to figure it out. Then Sunday afternoon we saw it on the butterfly bush out front. Still no idea what it is. I took a few images first through the screen and then sneaked out again to try to get one unobstructed. Anyone have an idea what this bug is? You can click the image to get a bigger image.

Broken Washer

Yesterday did not start out so well. I was on my second load of laundry when a horrible noise started coming out of the washer. After some investigating I realized the inside of the tub would not spin. That is when the noise would start. As luck would have it the soap had already dispensed and all the clothes were soapy and sopping wet. A quick call to my brother turned up a free washer. I was able to complete the washing process at his house which was so great. No way did I want to have to try to get the soap of the clothes myself. All was really not bad though. That was my last load of the weekend so we have all clean clothes right now. And for some reason I actually bought the extended warranty and they are coming to service it on Thursday. Hopefully they can fix it and everything is covered under the warranty.

A Pepper

It seems like I have been waiting forever for my pepper plant to start producing. It is still pretty small but has a lot of buds on it. This morning I noticed that I have a really small pepper growing. Very exciting! So here is hoping that it continues to grow and no animal takes it:)

Butterfly

I love it when butterflies come visit my butterfly bush. Last night there was a beautiful one that I caught a glimpse of while walking past the door. Luckily it did not fly away while I went to get my camera. I took a few through the screen door before very slowly and quietly squeezing out the door to get a closer image. Portrait Session

I am finally sharing the rest of my favorites from the portrait session last Saturday morning. It was the perfect weather for an outdoor session. I have been photographing this little guy since he was born and it was time for his 18 month pictures. He is sure growing fast. And he is all boy. Loves the outdoors so I was really glad we could do the session in a place where he could be himself. So here are some of my favorites.

A Great Quote

I saw this quote in the newspaper on Sunday. It is from Markus Rogan an Austria swimmer talking about the new Speedo racing suits.

"I tested it. I threw it in the pool and it didn't move at all, so I'll still have to swim."

I do not really follow professional swimming but I have heard of this new suit that is suppose to help swimmers go faster in the water. What I love about the quote it that even though you may have a great piece of equipment you still have to know how to use it. It is just nice to know that similar comments are made across all professions. I hear this comment a lot - "That camera takes great pictures" Why yes it does, because I know how to use it. What angles to use and how to make on the fly adjustments. That is the end of my soap box for the day:) Enjoy another day of great weather here in southern Ohio.

Anniversary Of Sorts

Today marks the one year anniversary of my giving up a steady paycheck in an attempt to make my dream come true. After working part-time getting my photography business up and running for almost 2 years I made the leap and quit my full-time job. I love running my own photography business even with all its ups and downs. Thanks to everyone who has given me encouragement, listened to my ramblings and fears, gave me constructive criticism and always believed in me. A special thanks to all my customers who help make my dream a reality every day. I hope I continue to improve my work, grow my company and meet new people as the years go on. And to my husband - thanks for never letting me give up, willingly changing our lifestyle and continueing to be my rock. I love you more and more as our life together goes forward.

Where I Was Today

What a beautiful day today! I luckily had an outdoor portrait session. You could not ask for better weather. Then an outdoor wedding reception. (as a guest) Hopefully this nice weather continues. I hope everyone got to at least spend 5 minutes outside today.

Concert

Thursday was one of those days where I felt like I ran around all day. All my appointments were scattered throughout the day leaving me an hour or two between them. But it was all worth it by the end of the night. My husband and I went up to Fraze Pavilion for the James Otto and Gary Allan concert. We met another couple for dinner and then headed over in a light rain. A little more rain just as the concert started and then it was dry. A great night for an outdoor concert and both acts were amazing. It was a great crowd and it was sad to have it end. So glad we spent the money for the tickets and carved the time out of schedules. If you get a chance to see these acts in concert I highly recommend it.

Game Requests

Since I cannot figure out how to make a post always appear at the top for an amount of time I am re-posting some information. It is that time of year again where I take requests from you on games you would like me to cover. If there is more than one request for different events on a specific day I will let you know that and which one I am going to cover. If the person making the request really wants a specific game covered I will recommend a paying session if a conflict arises. This year I am also looking for a few people willing to pass out my information at various games. I try to make it through the stands at every event but unfortunately I do not make it everyone all the time. Only one person per team will be taken. Motorcycle

My husband has wanted a motorcycle forever it seems like. Finally he wore me down at the beginning of the summer. He actually sat down and figured out how long it would take to get our money back out of it. Given that he was driving my truck which gets at most 12mpg and the bike gets close to 50mpg it was not going to take long. So here is the bike he got which happened to be used. Which made it even quicker for us to break even on it.

Do not try this at home. Always drive with both hands:)

I found some time to play around with the images I took on my Saturday morning walk. Trying to get better about finding some "me" time. I love to learn new things but taking the time to sit down and try things is hard to do. There are always business things I should do instead. Here are some images I played with.

This is a family graveyard that had some really old headstones in it. The oldest we found was 1846. Some you could not read though and I am guessing they were older.

I am fascinated by this old silo for some reason. Course the best angle is standing in the middle of 747 which I did to the dismay of my husband. Told him all the best spots are in places that are potentially dangerous:) I made sure there was no traffic coming and kept one eye on things. Plus he was there too.

Road Trip

A short road trip but a road trip just the same. This morning I got up at 5:20am so I could get ready to head to Georgetown, KY. That is the location of the Bengals training camp. Last year I really wanted to go but could not make it so this year I made it a point to put something in my schedule. My dad decided to join me on the trip which just made it all the better. Not sure he was that thrilled to have to be at my house no later than 6:30am but he was up for it. It was not a bad drive down but the parking situation was a little unorganized. They practiced on the field outside the stadium. We spent the first part of practice standing by the ropes and watching the defense. From there it was really hard to see anything else going on. We ended up moving to about midway up the hill and had a great view of the entire field. There is so much going on at one time which made it hard to pick what to watch. It was great seeing the team in this environment. I had a lot of fun and it was worth the drive. Here are just a few images from the camp. I really did not take many as I was more interested in watching and spending time with my dad.

Of course I had to get a quick image of Chad. He came over to the side to ride an exercise bike for awhile to stay loose. The crowd pretty much converged in that area as soon as they realized where he was. It was kind of funny to watch everyone migrate to him and then away when he went back to the field.

Unusual Image of the Day

Last night I told my husband that I was going to walk up the road to take some pictures in the morning. There are things I drive by all the time that I wanted to photograph. Since up the road is really route 747 I wanted to go somewhat early before traffic got too bad. He told me to wake him up and he would go with me. Unless I minded. Hmmm, somebody going with me so I do not look so strange. Sure, why not. I felt bad getting him up too early so we did not head out until 7:30 which is about an hour later than I would have gone by myself. While walking to one location we passed a mailbox with an unusual item inside. I thought I would share it with you. Images from my walk to follow another day.

A Few Changes

A few small changes to the blog were made today. I added some links to sites I visit almost daily. More to come but at least 3 for now. The labels for the various posts are now there as well to help you find something specific. This also meant going back and changing a lot of the labels to make things a bit more consistent. In the future I will have to be better at making sure I name things correctly. Hope these changes are helpful.

Sports Gallery Clean-Up

The Master Board

I was looking for a better way to keep track of the different sporting events that I wanted to cover this upcoming season. In the past I would just put it in pencil in my calendar or highlight it on the schedule. Which means then I would have to look through all the schedules for the highlights which was definitely not a fast thing to do. Especially if I wanted to respond on the phone to a request or quickly reply via email. I am an honest person if you call in for a request or a team sports session and I have it on my list of games that I want to go to then I will tell you that. So this year I am going to put all the games up on my new white board. It is hanging on my right side so with a quick glance I can see everything. Now I just have to get busy and start going through schedules. That is on my list of things to do in about a week when schedules should definitely be finalized. So I have one particular food that my husband will not even try. I love peanut butter & jelly sandwiches with cheese. I could eat them every day for lunch. Especially when you pair the sandwiches up with nacho cheese Doritos. Mmmmm. Anyone else love this combination? Do you have any combinations that you eat that nobody else will try? And yes I know one other person who eats his sandwiches this way.

Meeting New People

Yesterday morning I joined a new group called the Cincinnati Women Bloggers. Those of you who know me well that I tend to be a bit shy until I get to know you. I am trying to get over that and joining a new group where I know absolutely nobody going in definitely put me out of my comfort zone. What a great group though! They made me feel welcome right away. It was a good meeting and I look forward to getting to know everyone in the group and reading their blogs. Thanks for making me feel welcome from the start.

Family Session

I had the privilege of doing a family session and a few maternity images at the same time. I only wish it had been cooler outside. The mom's dress was fantastic. I love it! What great color and it would have looked amazing against a tree line. But there was no way I was going to try to convince an 8 month pregnant woman to go out in 90 degree heat with high humidity. Their house is so many different wonderful pieces that I had no trouble finding places to take their family images. Here are a few of my favorites from the session.

Eye Rolling

Have you ever felt somebody rolling their eyes even though you were not looking at them? I did last night. Got finished with a Senior Session and my husband asked me if I was going to come downstairs and talk to him. Since I had noticed a hummingbird on my flowers I was busy scrambling to take some images. Told him I would be down as soon as I finished taking a few pictures. I swear I could feel him rolling his eyes. Quite possibly shaking his head as well. He knows me so well :) So here is one image I took quickly before going to spend time with him.
